Union bosses can’t stalk anymore

In Pennsylvania, Stalking Can Be Legal for Union Members. That May Change.

Pennsylvania lawmakers are on the brink of closing a legal loophole that exempts parties to an organized labor dispute from charges of stalking, harassment, and threatening to use a weapon of mass destruction.

Ugh.

Sarina Rose, vice president of development for Post Brothers Apartments, said union-affiliated contractors also photographed her children at the bus stop and taped the pictures up at their sporting events. The legal loophole gave them a pass, she said.

Why was this ever thought of as legal?

Unions on the decline, even in Illinois

Illinois Governor Ends Forced Union Dues for State Employees

Then on Monday, he signed an executive order making union dues voluntary for state government employees. [s]

Illinois lacks a right-to-work law. Consequently, most government employees must pay union dues to hold their jobs. Government employees do not have to technically join the union, but they must pay fees that amount to nearly full dues. Government unions use this money to lobby and bargain for generous contracts with government bodies.

Unfortunately these benefits have crippled the states’ finances. Illinois has the most underfunded pension system in the entire country. Bloomberg estimates Illinois has set aside less than two-fifths of the money necessary to pay its pension obligations.

It always seemed illegal/unconstitutional to me to have the government force people to associate.

Teacher unions fighting private scholarships, again

Parents Fight Back Against Teachers Union Suing Nation’s Largest School Choice Program

It is a disappointment that teachers union heads continue to threaten the educational opportunity of Florida’s most disadvantaged students, despite evidence suggesting academic improvement for students in the program and in traditional public schools.

Unions seem to be in the business of keeping themselves around instead of helping the common good.
